Marine vegetated habitats such as macroalgae are common in tropical and subtropical coastlines, providing habitats for a diversity of organisms. These species are using vegetated habitats for a variety of reasons including shelter, foraging and nursery habitats at some point in their lives. Macroalgae beds have been found to contain more juveniles than neighboring seagrass beds or coral reefs and host a greater number of reef fish species.
