Costa Nostrum is among the top 5 companies worldwide of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in the category “Innovation and Digitalization for Island Destinations”.
On March 15th and 16th, 2023, the final phase of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Competition for Island Destinations was held in Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Spain.
Costa Nostrum was chosen to be among the 5 best companies worldwide, in the category “Innovation and Digitization for Island Destinations”. The competition had two categories “Innovation and digitization for island destinations” and “Deep Tech: New technologies applied to sustainability” and the total applications amounted to more than 110 entries – startups from all over the world.
The competition was about startups from all over the world that can offer innovative and smart solutions for island destinations in a more sustainable way. The organizers, in this way, wanted to identify and support those who contribute to the post-pandemic recovery and resilience of the tourism ecosystem of island destinations by developing innovative and smart tourism solutions and products.
As part of the final phase, Costa Nostrum, on March 16th, was invited to present its work, its results, and its partners to a global audience that was consisting of United Nations officials, governmental organizations of various countries, NGOs of global scope, but also giant companies that are directly or indirectly involved in the global tourism industry.
The audience response to Costa Nostrum’s work in coastal sustainability was particularly warm and we received many positive comments, with many attendees expressing their interest in implementing Costa Nostrum’s work in their own coastal areas.
