Costa Nostrum was recently featured on Naftemporiki TV, in a segment dedicated to environmental challenges and sustainable coastal development.
During the interview, Mr. Vassilis Zisimopoulos, Founder and CEO of Costa Nostrum, outlined the framework of the Sustainable Beach Certification and emphasized its role as a practical tool for municipalities, tourism operators, and coastal property managers seeking to align with the principles of sustainability.
The certification model, built around 39 measurable criteria, evaluates beaches across three interconnected pillars: environmental responsibility, social inclusiveness, and economic viability. Through real-world examples, the discussion highlighted how the certification can lead to:
• enhanced visitor satisfaction,
• increased beach visit duration and spending,
• and measurable growth in local economic activity, all while safeguarding the natural environment.
The conversation also referenced the international expansion of Costa Nostrum’s model, now being implemented in 9 European countries through a Horizon Europe program, further validating the protocol’s relevance on a continental scale.
Costa Nostrum sincerely thanks Naftemporiki TV for the opportunity to raise awareness on the urgent need for sustainable coastal practices, especially in the context of climate resilience and responsible tourism.
